Tips to change your life

Exercise

Resistance training is an essential ingredient to helping reverse, stop and prevent bone degeneration. When you resistance train, you keep the muscles, ligaments and tendons strong which in turn place force on the supporting bones. To maintain the support, the body will lay down minerals to make sure the bones are able to handle these pressures. This build the mineral density and strength of the bones.

Nutrition

Buy local! It’s better for the environment (less food miles), our economy and health. Locally produced food is more likely to be in-season, providing more nutrition. Completed for David’s Health & Lifestyle Studios by Adelle Purbrick, www.bodybalancenutrition.com.au

General Life

When times are tough or things are just not going your way and you need to lean on someone, don’t be afraid to put your ego aside and ask for help before it becomes too late. This is one of the greatest pieces of advice I have been given from a very smart lady. Thanks Sue R.

Weekly Exercise Suggestion

This routine involves what are referred to as isometric exercises which are exercises which put muscle groups to the test against each other. It is also a test of your mental tenacity. The four exercises we will use are:

  1. Squat hold at 90 degree http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5BFpmzzLbs&feature=related
  2. A ball plank http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kDq47YsNDc
  3. An overhead press 9bar or dumbbell) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-aVuyhvLHU , and
  4. An upright row (bar or dumbbell). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74GGz6ZZeJ4&feature=fvsr

Hold each exercise for 40 seconds with no joints locked and in the up position. You complete the exercises again doing:

  1. 20 squats
  2. 10 rolling ball planks (short movements)
  3. 20 overhead presses, and
  4. 20 upright rows.

After completing the sequence, go back through the holds, for 40 seconds each, and then repeat the moving repetitions. You can complete this session 3 or 4 times through.

Wise Words

“Life is like a book. We can either study it or let it gather dust on the shelves of the world.” — Rene Godefroy
