You cannot lose your weight with just a brisk walk

Why not?

Walking at a brisk walk consistently will help start the weight loss but there are several other components that need to be in place to ensure we are on the right path.

When we walk, we will try and revert to the most efficient pattern of movement which means we will be burning the least amount of calories (energy) to sustain that movement (which is not good for weight loss).

You need to ensure you maintain your metabolism at a high rate with exercises that build lean muscle, so when you walk you burn more energy (calories).

The CSIRO contacted 5600 subscribers and completed a survey on their thoughts on losing weight.  Of the people surveyed (all between the age of 51 and 70 years),  65% thought resistance training was not important.  There were only one in two actually doing some resistance training.  This did not mention if it was an effective form of resistance training for weight loss.

What is essential?

Resistance – to maintain lean muscle and a high metabolism

Cardiovascular – at a level that gets you huffy puffy (can have a conversation but need to take deep breaths during sentences).

Nutrition – fresh fresh fresh and in healthy serving sizes.
