When we have those little extras in our daily life, they tend to be overlooked, and we justify them as ‘only small things that really don’t count.’
Extra’s in our daily life can add up and derail all our efforts to keep healthy and maintain an ideal weight. For example, one full strength stubby of beer would take 20 minutes of cycling at around 15kms an hour to burn off, or between 10 and 15 minutes of running.
When we justify these in our diet, we often state ‘I am exercising, so I can have this.’ If you are having those extras, you need to be adding on those minutes of exercise to what you already are doing.
Don’t cheat yourself this Christmas, either reduce those little extras or add in that extra exercise. I know which option is easier.
