Your exercise tip – taking action
A man approached a great and wise trainer, and said “I have come to you to change my life, to make me healthier, you are the one that can take me there.”
The trainer said, “I need to go to the toilet.” The man said in return, “Why did you say this?”
The trainer said “I do not want to get up, can you go to the toilet for me?” The man said “I cannot do that for you.”
The trainer said “yes.” The man understood.
When you are trying to become healthier and fitter, you can have all the tools, all the right gear, and the best location or facilities available, but no one can do it for you. Getting healthier is about taking action yourself.
Your health tip
When your body and blood pH is lower than the recommended levels (which means it is in an acidic state), it can increase the risk of instigating bouts of gout or other inflammatory responses in the body. Having a lower pH in the body can be related to many factors, but in particular, diseases that affect the acid-base homeostasis of the body.
Exercise and good nutrition is a key component in reducing the risk of disease, which in turn will help with the pH levels in the body. Another reason we should look after ourselves better.
Exercise of the week
This week I will cover a stretch for the lower (lumbar) back.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzOhYmQd0wc
This is a great stretch if you have been sitting or driving for an extended period and need to loosen the body off a little.
• Breath out when you pull the knees into the chest, trying to maintain a regular breathing pattern while stretching
• If you are just trying to loosen off the are temporarily, hold the stretch for 20 to 30 seconds. For a more permanent change, try holding for over a minute.
• Like all stretches, pull until slight tightness or light discomfort, not pain.
Your life tip
In your day, if you are held up or delayed, take the opportunity to relax. It does not happen often when you are busy.
This week’s wise words
“Not exercising? The best excuse is to have none”
